LIVE in Johns Creek: Ballet Performances of the Nutcracker, Swan Lake, and Contemporary Work

Live in Johns Creek and go to the ballet. If you love culture and live in Johns Creek, then you need to check out the North Atlanta Dance Theatre. Founded in 1998, the organization has expanded from training pre-professional students to a semi-professional dance troupe. Visiting guest artists, as well as a group of professional resident artists work together to put on dazzling ballet performances. North Atlanta Dance Theatre sees its mission as threefold. First, to provide the community in Johns Creek and the greater Atlanta area with fine ballet. Second, to support local professional dancers. Finally, to encourage local student dancers with mentors and performance opportunities.

Johns Creek property owners look forward to NADT’s performance of the Nutcracker every year during the holiday season. Since 2000, the performances have taken place at the Blessed Trinity Performing Arts Center in Roswell. In March, ballet lovers enjoy the spring concert, performed at the Infinite Energy Theatre in Duluth. This concert has seen a wide variety of performances. From classics like Carmen and Swan Lake to work from modern choreographers, the program is always varied. 2017 saw the debut of artistic director Michael Garrison’s magical production, The Rainbow King. A performance by NADT is a great way to introduce children to the ballet. The enchanting music and energetic dancers delight children and adults. Tickets are affordably priced, starting at $12 for the Nutcracker and $18 for the spring concert.

Experience Local History near Johns Creek Homes at Autrey Mill

Take a hike near Johns Creek homes at Autrey Mill.Explore nature and learn some local history near Johns Creek homes at Autrey Mill Nature Preserve and Heritage Center. This property has had a varied and fascinating history. The Cherokee and Creek Indians were the first inhabitants. After the Indians were forced from the area, the land was sold for farming. The Autrey family built a mill which was in use from 1877 to the early 1900s. The mill was primarily used for making wheat flour, though ground corn was also produced. By the 1890s, people could easily purchase flour, and the mill was used less and less.

Today, visitors are welcome to this Johns Creek real estate location to take a self-guided audio tour of the Heritage Village. Three of the buildings were built by former inhabitants of the property, while the other four were saved from demolition and moved here. The buildings are opened for special events or for pre-arranged group tours. See the large Summerour Family House, a smaller tenant farmer’s house, a barn, church, and store. An Indian village is currently under construction and will fill out the story of this land.
