On the 28th of April, Autrey Mill Nature Preserve will be hosting its annual Wild Weekend for all those from Doublegate properties and the surrounding area! This popular family event will begin at 10 a.m. and last until 2 p.m. Guests will be encouraged to “take a walk on the wild side” as they enjoy a variety of educational entertainment from games to nature crafts. There will be “barnyard critters” from The Art Barn, and the “Bubble Creation Station” will be back by popular demand bringing with it all the wonders of bubbles in nature. Visitors will get to see a wide array of reptiles at the “Creature Features” exhibit, and beneficial bugs like ladybugs and butterflies will be highlighted at the “What’s Bugging You?” station. Throughout the day, guests will get to enjoy the sounds of Ken Bar’s Student Recital which will be sharing acoustic sets every hour. All of this family fun is only $5 with an Autrey Mill Family Membership, and $10 for non-members, with no pre-registration required.
Later that evening from 7 to 10 p.m. adults living in Doublegate properties and the Johns Creek area are invited to the celebration of “Butterflies, Botanicals, and All Things Wild About Autry Mill” fundraiser. The light-hearted evening will feature a variety of entertainment, including a live band and silent auction. There will even be a diverse assortment of local food and beverages for everyone to enjoy! A limited number of $25 tickets are available. Tickets include dinner and desserts provided by restaurants in the local area. A variety of drinks are also included in the ticket price, as well as two tickets for wine or beer. Additional beer or wine can be purchased at the cash bar. The funds from this event will help to expand the services and programs of Autrey Mill’s non-profit.

The preserve is normally open from 8 a.m. until dusk, and nature lovers who live in Doublegate and the surrounding communities are free to visit whenever it is open. The Visitor Center itself is open from Tuesday through Saturday at 10 a.m. until 4 p.m., and then on Sundays from noon to 4 p.m. It is completely free for people to enter the Nature Preserve Grounds or the Visitor Center.
